J'ai pratiquement fini de lire ma première grosse fournée de livres VO (liste ici), donc j'ai refait une autre commande.

I Am Number Four raconte l'histoire de John Smith, un adolescent de 15 ans à l'allure ordinaire, vivant une vie ordinaire à Paradise dans l'Ohio. Mais John n'est pas ordinaire. C'est l'un des neuf extra-terrestres de la planète Lorien. John est en danger et il est toujours en fuite mais cette fois, les enjeux sont plus importants que jamais. Sa petite amie, Sarah, la seule personne qu'il ait autorisée à se rapprocher de lui, est aussi en danger.
Des êtres malfaisants sont présents sur Terre. Ce sont des extra-terrestres venus de la planète Mogadore. Ils ont détruit la planète Lorien pour dépouiller cette dernière de ses ressources naturelles car Mogadore était en train de mourir. Ils ont suivi les rescapés Loriens sur Terre pour terminer le travail. Ceux-ci développent leurs "Legacies" (des pouvoirs spéciaux) autour de leur quinzième année.
L'espèce alien ennemie a déjà tué Numéro Un en Malaisie, Numéro Deux en Angleterre et Numéro Trois au Kenya. John Smith est Numéro 4. Et il est le prochain. Tandis que John lutte pour s'éloigner de son passé, découvrir son futur et vivre une vie normale sur Terre, il doit choisir entre l'héritage qui lui est destiné et l'amour qu'il n'aurait jamais cru avoir.
Le livre est le 1er d'une série de 6 tomes et est sorti le 3 août 2010 aux Etats Unis. Mais le film est déjà en préparation pour une date de sortie le 18 février 2011 aux Etats Unis. Alex Pettyfer (Alex Ryder) tiendra le rôle principal.
Le tome 2, The Power of Six, sortira au printemps 2011.
