Are you satisfied with the ending?

Yes, obviously not everyone will be happy with it, but it wraps up Rose’s story.

What was your inspiration for writing these books?

She knew she wanted to write something for teens, she used to be a teacher and had heard of plenty of stories related to demons and fairies, but not so many about vampires (this was five years ago before Twilight.) Due to her qualifications she had a background regarding mythology and drew inspiration from Eastern European myths to bring the Strogi and Moroi to life.

Is there going to be a movie?

Vampire Academy has been optioned by Preger Entertainment, which means exactly that, they now have the option to make the film. It is not certain yet, but it is better than no one being interested at all because she can’t shoot it herself in her back yard. At the moment no production or casting has commenced and she has no control in casting. When it happens the Facebook page will be the best place for updates.

What is your favourite book of the series?

Shadow Kiss. It is terrible but as a writer it is great to write something so powerful. She felt terrible for the next six months because she made people cry and throw their books.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

Write the story you want to tell, the one burning in side of you. Don’t write for other people, or what you think will sell. Writing for a certain market for that purpose alone produces bad books.

Who do you see as Dimitri?

It is hard because Dimtri is as he appears in her head and no actor looks quite like that. She is hoping they find an unknown who looks as she imagines them. Ben Barnes appears to be popular so maybe he may be interested after he finishes with Narnia.

How do you feel now that the series has come to an end?

There is a sort of relief that she can end as she pleases. She always envisioned five or six books so it is good that she didn’t end up writing more as sometimes happens to successful series. Due to the spin off she will still be writing about the same world so is not as sad as she might be if there was no spin off.

Where do you find inspiration for your characters?

Richelle tries very hard not to transport people from real life into a book in case she gets caught in the act. She believes she is influenced by what she wouldn’t do ad she could not throw a punch. It seems to work.

Is it difficult moving from writing Rose’s point of view to another character?

Switching between her current three heroines is simple because they are different people in different environments. It has proven difficult though, to transfer between Rose and the new characters in the spin off, she has caught herself beginning to write the story as if Rose was there.

Can you tell us about Bloodlines?

No but there will be an Entertainment Weekly exclusive coming out on Friday to talk about characters and so forth.

Will you ever write about Rose again?

No, she’s dead to me. Not really. Rose will be appearing for a few cameos in the spin off and maybe a few years she may feature more prominantly again. She needs a good break after all the bad things that have happened to her but she may shake things up again in a few years.

Where do you find inspiration?

Inspiration comes from all places, not just music, just life. You see it in the world whilst people watching, you can see it in Starbucks and think “That person just needs to be in a book” You have to be in the world seeing and doing with a bit of help from your imagination.

When will the next Georgina book be out.

The next and last book in the Georgina series will be release September 2011. This is where she always planned to end it although there may be some surprises to come.

Which are your favourite characters to write about?

Obviously Rose, as her protagonist she has to like her. She knows her the best and if she didn’t she couldn’t have written six books. She also likes Abe and Adrian, they have some of the best lines she has written and have some ridiculous dialogue. If she had her way she would begin every signing with Abe’s court room appearance, acting as a lawyer in Spirit Bound, but it just gives too much away.

Which are better, your vampires or Stephanie Meyers?

Richelle thinks they are apples and oranges, there are lots of vampire books around, including Rachel Caine, House of Night, Strange Angels. Everyone has a totally different take on them.

Who do you think is a better fit for rose? Adrian or Dimitri?

Read Last sacrifice, all the answers are there…
