Mon avis

Après avoir eu un coup de cœur pour le premier tome From Blood and Ash, j’attendais la suite avec grande impatience. Je n’ai pas été déçue ! Maintenant que les révélations sont faites et qu’on est entré de plein pied dans l’intrigue, Jennifer L Armentrout prend le temps de développer son univers avec notamment des explications sur les différents types de population et les évènements historiques qui ont mené à la situation actuelle, notamment grâce à un système ingénieux qui permet également de consolider une relation intéressante entre deux personnages.

La romance entre les deux protagonistes principaux est elle aussi mignonne, attachante que bizarre. Poppy entretient toujours des sentiments ambivalents envers Casteel maintenant qu’elle connait la vérité à son sujet, et n’arrête pas de vouloir le poignarder même si elle sait que c’est sans conséquence. Et lui qui est un être létal et redouté de tous, s’amuse et est même excité à l’idée que sa bien-aimée lui tienne tête. Leur histoire prend une tournure plus intime avec des scènes assez graphiques qui montrent qu’il s’agit bien d’un roman New Adult. Ça m’a un peu surprise au début, mais ça ne m’a pas déplu.

En plus de ses liens compliqués avec Casteel, elle doit faire face à une ambiance hostile et des préjugés contre elle, tout comme elle avait des idées préconçues auparavant. Mais elle peut aussi compter sur le soutien de Casteel et Kieran qui forme un duo intriguant et intéressant à suivre. Certaines traditions sont d’ailleurs chaud bouillant haha

Il y a pas mal d’action, de la tension et de nouvelles découvertes. Le roman est un pavé mais je ne me suis pas ennuyée une seule seconde et j’avais envie de rester dans cette hsitoire, surtout à la fin !
