Yet, just when they might be on the brink of a second chance, the ghost from Brodan’s past finally catches up to him and threatens not just their happiness, but their very lives.
Mon avis
Pour ce dernier roman de la saga des Adair, et on peut dire que l’héroïne n’est encore une fois pas épargnée par l’autrice qui prend plaisir à mettre un psychopathe différent sur la route de ses personnages à chaque fois. L’intrigue policière n’est cependant pas du tout centrale dans ce tome, il s’agit surtout d’une romance de seconde chance.
Brodan a gardé une rancune immense envers Monroe, pensant qu’elle l’avait abandonné après avoir été les meilleurs amies d’enfance. Il a un comportement vraiment méchant avec elle, j’ai été choquée et je ne lui aurais pas pardonné aussi facilement, d’autant que son retournement de veste est très soudain. J’ai donc eu du mal avec lui, a contrario de Monroe qui est d’une gentillesse et d’une loyauté sans pareilles et qui ne mérite aucunement de se faire traiter de la sorte, d’autant plus en public et que d’autres personnes s’en aperçoivent.
Cela reste une lecture agréable avec les mêmes mécanismes utilisés par Samantha Young dans ses romans. Je suis toujours contente de revoir le clan qui s’élargit de plus en plus, et on a même un joli bonus à la fin pour conclure cette série. L’autrice a déjà prévu de publier un spin off avec un personnage que l’on rencontre dans ce volet.
