Jennifer L Armentrout a indiqué avoir rajouté un tome 4 à cette saga prequel car elle n'avait pas la place de conclure son histoire en un seul livre. Je comprends pourquoi car c’est un bon pavé de 560 pages mais il y a un bon tiers de ce roman qui aurait pu être coupé sans rien enlever à la compréhension de l'intrigue ou de l'univers. Le développement de la mythologie est trop détaillé, cela donne l’impression qu’il ne se passe pas grand-chose et qu’on n’avance pas. Je suis sure qu'il y a des indices sur la suite et sur le lien avec la saga Blood and Ash, mais j'ai été tellement noyée par les noms et les récits, j’essayais de trouver les références et les clins d’œil, mais j’étais encore plus embrouillée et je n’ai pas retenu grand-chose au final.

Et pourtant le compte à rebours de Sera est impitoyable et il y a un sentiment d’urgence à savoir comment vont se résoudre les obstacles qui se dressent entre elle et Nyktos. La première partie est un huis clos étouffant qui va marquer profondément notre héroïne alors que la dernière sauve l’ensemble avec ce que j'attendais depuis le départ, c’est-à-dire de l'action, des émotions et un Nyktos qui délivre des lignes à donner des papillons dans le ventre. Ce couple est à la fois puissant, dangereux aux yeux du monde entier, et très mignon et vulnérable quand ils ne sont que tous les deux.

Je suis ravie qu'il n'y ait pas de cliffangher cette fois-ci, et j’espère qu’il y aura davantage de scènes entre eux dans l’ultime volet de ce spin off.
