Unfortunately, the grumpy Scot seems immune to Sloane’s charm, but she can’t help but try to seduce him with cupcakes and baked treats whenever the opportunity arises.

However, when someone arrives in Ardnoch intent on destroying Sloane’s life, Walker is the first to step forward to protect her and Callie. Even if it means giving into temptation and awakening his own demons. Because in doing so, Walker faces failing not only to shield Sloane from her past, but to safeguard her against his own.

Mon avis

Samantha Young continue d’écrire dans l’univers du village écossais Ardnoch avec cette saga spin off qui ne se focalisera plus sur la famille Adair mais sur les personnages qui gravitent autour d’eux. On connait les deux protagonistes du tome précédent.

Walker est tout le contraire de Brodan, sous ses airs bougon se cache un cœur d’or et une douceur dont a bien besoin Sloane. Il n’y a donc pas de scènes humiliantes pour l’héroïne ou de coups vache de la part du héros, ce qui est vraiment appréciable. L’ambiance est mignonne et calme du côté de leur romance.

Je suis toujours peu convaincue par l’aspect suspense avec des évènements malheureux qui tombent en rafale sur Sloane, ça fait vraiment too much et ça dessert l’histoire plus qu’autre chose. Je pensais que l’autrice allait arrêter d’aller dans cette direction mais non… Attendons-nous donc à de nouvelles péripéties pour les personnages de ce microcosme qui attire vraiment tous les psychopathes…

Mis à part ça, la plume de Samantha Young est toujours agréable, l’amitié et la loyauté de ce groupe qui s’élargit peu à peu et dont on suit l’évolution sont agréables à suivre.
