His family will not stop nagging him about finding 'the one', so when he runs into obnoxiously cheery Star again, he makes her an offer: He'll pay her more than she would make doing her odd jobs if she'll pretend to be his girlfriend at family gatherings. She can stop sitting in line waiting for someone else's new phone, and he'll get his family off his back.

When the tension between them heats to a breaking point, Star's desire for 'no strings' is tested against Rafe's staunch stability. They say opposites attract, after all.

Mon avis

Il s’agit d’une romance contemporaine entre deux personnages aux caractères complètement opposés. Le trope grumpy/sunshine est mis à toutes les sauces en ce moment mais il convient parfaitement à cette histoire. Star a eu une éducation non conventionnelle et a appris à assumer ce qu’elle est et ce qu’elle aime. J’ai été très touchée par sa lutte contre ceux qui prétendent l’apprécier mais se permettent des choses vraiment pas sympas. La dernière partie du roman était difficile à supporter, ça m’a fait beaucoup de peine pour elle. J’aurais aimé qu’il y ait un retour de bâton plus violent envers certaines personnes.

La romance est très mignonne, j’ai beaucoup aimé le personnage de Rafe qui est loyal et compréhensif sous ses airs d’ours mal léché. Il est vétérinaire mais je regrette qu’il n’y ait pas autant de scènes avec des animaux que j’aurais souhaité.

Un one shot à nouveau réussi par Samantha Young.
